Meghan McCain, daughter of US Senator John McCain, came by our studio today to lend her face to the NO H8 Campaign. Meghan, who is also Republican, reminds us that our fight against Prop 8 doesn’t just include liberals and Democrats. It doesn’t matter what your political affiliation is, you can still stand up for equality. Thank you, Meghan, for taking the time to come out and for being such a great ally!
I actually like her a lot. She reminds me of alot of college students that say things without being informed half the time but you know, at these she has believes and she’s willing to publicly say them at the risk of being mocked.
Granted, everyone should read up on all sides of a matter before forming an opinion but she seems to be on the right track.
I have to say I really respect her for doing this. She’s gonna get a LOT of shit for it.
I started warming up to her after she was on Colbert.
“My friend Val thinks I should lick Steven Colbert’s face tomorrow on the show, what do we think?!?”
“I don’t think Twittering is going to make people think the Republican Party is cooler.”
Good for her. :-)

How the U.S. will be split up after it collapses in 2010.
I’d actually love for Atlantic America to join the E.U.!
luls, but Alaska belongs with Russia… you can see it from there.
Jon Stewart brings O’Reilly into the Jon Stewart Safe Zone.
(This is the 13 minute uncut interview.)
I actually sort of like Bill O’Reilly when he goes on Daily Show/Colbert… for the first few minutes when he plays along. But I’ve gotta give the man props for being able to hold his own.
“Did you know that Orrin is a songwriter much the way Joe is a plumber?” -Rahm Emanuel
My family used to be in the same congregation as Sen. Hatch. He wasn’t at church very often and we didn’t know him too well, but my parents thought it was awesome.
(It took me a while to figure out that having people like Bay Buchanan invite your family to dinner isn’t normal to some, but that’s Northern Virginia for you.)
Sen. Hatch’s family sent Christmas cards to everyone in the ward and they were always tastefully done. Very decorative, festive, with a genuinely sweet Christmas message… and one of his songs on the back of it.
My mom keeps almost all of our Christmas cards and so his little musical numbers have been known to pop up all the freaking time.

Rahm Emanuel plants a wet one on Stephen Colbert at a Spina Bifida benefit in DC.
The two roasted each other (and many others) at the 20th Annual Roast for Spina Bifida.
Video from the roast can be found here.

So cute! :-P

“The top map is voting patterns in this 2008 election– the bottom map is cotton production in 1860…”
What might they be trying to suggest??
